Our newest addition....

Nope, not baby Hudson. ;)

We bought a NEW VEHICLE this weekend. Well, not "new" but new to us. We finally found a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica that appeased BOTH of our wants and the numbers were right, so we jumped on it. (a huge thanks to both Simon and Don for putting up with us!)

It has the bench seat in the middle row... which I wanted (I didn't want the third row option). And it has the Electronic Stability Control that Ryan wanted, along with another fun extra... a backup sensor that alerts you if you are within 18 inches of backing into something. (definitely a feature I need LOL!). I don't *love* the color... but it'll do. The three colors I really didn't want were Red, White or "country" Blue. And, out of the 4 Pacificas we have test drove in the last month... they were Red, navy blue, magnesium (a grayish-blue) and Silver (which to me is kind of similar to white on this type of vehicle). Anyhow... color is so superficial, so whatever. We bought a silver one, and its here to stay :)

We have spent over a month mulling over vehicles. Originally we wanted to stick with an SUV... even though we did, for a millisecond, toss around the idea of a mini van. Ultimately, I'm so not ready for a mini van with only 2 kids. I just can't go there yet. So, we went back to researching SUV's and were quite disappointed in the roominess available in the backseat... especially in larger SUV's like the Trailblazer and the Envoy (two of our top choices). We looked at the Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Chevy Equinox, Buick Rendezvous, Chevy Trailblazer and Toyota Highlander. All disappointed me greatly with the room in the back seat... they were all pretty equivalent to the Santa Fe... in which Porter's feet can kick the seat when Ry is in front of him, and the infant seat... don't get me started with how little room there is with the infant seat. Ugh.

I really would love to have purchased a Buick Enclave or GMC Acadia, but they are too new and too expensive for us right now. Although I *LOVE* them.

So, without wanting to resort to a mini, our last option was the Chrysler Pacifica. Its a "crossover"... errr... a mix of a mini van, SUV and station wagon. The backseat is SOOO roomy. There's a good 4 inches from the infant carrier to the driver's seat when Ryan is driving, and its quite wide so three people/car seats/passengers can easily fit in the back without being cramped.

I'm super excited about the new car, although I'm a bit sad about trading in the Fe. Is that weird? I seriously felt like I had left my dog at the dog pound and took home a "younger pup." Remind me to never trade in a car while pregnant LOL! The Fe has been good to me for 5 years. We have a bond. And I left her for a new ride. Poor girl! Anyhow... I'm sure in a few days I'll be over it and in love with my new car.

  1. OMG, so it has a 3rd seat in the rear?? I just looked at the website - that's exactly what I've been wanting!!! But besides going the mini van route (gag), I couldn't find anything that really seemed better than our Civic.

And I feel for Ryan as Morgan kicks the crap out of the back of my seat constantly - when he's not bitching at me to "mooooove the seat uppppppp".

I'm totally showing the pics and website to Brad! Maybe we can find a newer used version too!

  8. Girl, I HAVE THAT CAR. I think I may have commented on an earlier post when you were looking for some feedback!
We seriously bought like $2000 worth of stuff from Lowes and hauled it all in the Pacifier (we use that name every once in a while). I'm telling you, you can PACK that thing up.
For me, it has some major blind spots, so just be careful!!:) Well, that's in the '05. So, that might not be a problem on yours.
We've had ours almost 3 years now and I still like the look!
    Hope you love it!!

  9. I'm glad your car shopping days are over1 You are gonna love the Pacifica and will like all the room in the back instead of the 3rd row! Looks like there are a lot of other readers that have them too! LOL! Welcome to the Pacifica owners club... (okay that was corny! lol!)

  10. Very cool! My hubby is totally against a SUV (gas guzzlers), and a minivan is completely out of the question, but more room would certainly be nice, and to not be kicked!
