Woo hooo... I am able to snag some wireless from somewhere. The signal isn't great, and it goes in and out, but I can use my laptop and get online! My mom does have internet, and I can get on her computer or my desktop, but her cell phone has to be connected to the USB cord, so when she's gone at work (or like right now, she's staying the night at her boyfriend Brian's house), I have no access b/c obviously she has her cell phone with her. So... I opened up the laptop and figured I'd give it a try and see what kind of signal I could pick up. Imagine my surprise...
So far, the move hasn't been as terrible as I anticipated. Once we got through the initial packing and boxing up our life and brought our daily belongings to my mom's, it wasn't too bad. Porter has his own room here. Me, Ry and Hudson are sharing a huge room (like 24x13 or something... its like two bedrooms put together). Everything fits and I'm feeling ok about our temporary lodging. I'm so thankful my mom is willing and able to have us here!
It almost feels like a vacation on the beach. We are right by the lake and there is a great breeze that blows through the house all day. It was 80* plus here and surprisingly I got chilly this afternoon because of the shade and breeze. I'd never have realized how warm it really was!
Its been nice to have my mom around and have an extra set of hands to help out with the boys. The past nearly two weeks have been so crazy since Hudson arrived. Ryan's been so busy with school and finals and house stuff and moving that he's been gone a lot. Before moving I was home alone a lot with both boys, having to pack and had no relief until later in the evening when Porter most likely was already in bed. Tomorrow night is Ryan's last night of class this semester. Thank God! Friday I have a scrapbook night planned... its much needed!
Throughout all this, I have been thanking God every single day for Hudson. I know I seriously need to knock on wood before I post this but, oh my word... this kid is an angel. I swear, he has cried like a total of 5 times in the 2 weeks he's been alive and for no longer than a few minutes. He is the happiest, most content baby I've ever met and I have no clue how I got so lucky! God must have known I needed an easy kid while dealing with all this other stress. I keep wondering if he's just a great baby or if something is seriously wrong with him. I'm getting spoiled quickly. The most he complains for food is grunts and moans and rooting around. He calms right down when he's picked up and waits patiently for his bottle. When he's awake (he's been doing longer stretches during the day, up to a couple hours) he is just happy being held or in his bouncer or laying on the play mat. He looks around, observing everything. He wiggles and kicks and is altogether content just being wherever he is. I'm sure he'll turn into beast child the second I hit "Publish" on this post, but at least for the past 13 days he's been so great. I don't think I'd have made it through these past 2 weeks if he'd been a fussy, cranky baby.
My mom watches Aubri on Mondays, so today I took Aubri and Porter on a walk to the park at the lake. Here are a few pictures from our day:
I'm glad things are going well... and that you're able to blog!! haha!
ReplyDeleteNow that the pressure of getting out of the house is off, take some time to relax and enjoy your boys (and the extra hands at your mom's).
*and we need more pictures of Hudson!!
I agree w/ Heather, more Hudson pics!
ReplyDeleteSome babies are just more laid back. Emily, my oldest (14) was like that. Very content & calm, even throughout the "terrible two's", I'm just paying for it now in the teen years where she's trying to argue about makeup & clothes-yikes!
I'm so glad things are going so smoothly & that Hudson is such a good baby. Gavin was the same way...content wherever & he still is (90% of the time). I have to admit that I'm super jealous of that big lake in your pictures - it looks wonderful right about now!
