Polling my readers....

  1. I honestly don't know enough about it and I haven't been watching the news so I am one of the ones "on the fence". Since I work in schools, it is probably a good idea but ONLY if it is very safe and so far they just don't know!!

  2. Same reasons as I mentioned earlier... we don't get the regular seasonal flu shots, we have pretty good (I think) immune systems and I'm just not really worried about it. I'd rather get it and get over it than mess with any uneasiness I have with shots.

I worked in daycare and preschool for ten years and the one year I did get a flu shot I was more sick that year than all my other years teaching. My kids have always been in big playgroups, preschool and school and are at church at least twice a week and we've survived thus far without flu vaccinations...

  3. Good poll! I voted no. I'm going to let our immune systems handle it. We already experienced a mild flu at the end of Sept. Tough, but no big deal. I'm more worried about rotoviruses and stomach bugs. I think this is kind of over hyped like West Nile was.

  4. I'm pregnant, and I have a toddler (two high risk factor categories), and I'm still on the fence. Part of me thinks that if we did get the swine flu we'd be able to fight it off just fine. But how do I really know that, being pregnant with a compromised immune system? The vacc isn't even available in our area yet, so I'm putting off making a decision until it is.

  5. I'm still on the fence. I work for Health Canada... we get LOTS of information on H1N1 and I can't seem to make up my mind. But today... one of the manager's daughter found out she had the virus. It kinda made me want the vaccine right away. Honestly, I don't think we will have that bad of a 2nd pandemic wave... but, I'm not sure if I want to risk it if we do.

  6. We're not. It's so new, and by now I think most of the town has been exposed so whoever's going to get it has probably already gotten it.
And if not, I don't think it will be the end of the world if we come down with it. We'll just take care of ourselves the best we can & move on :)
