I stayed home from work today and went to the doctor. It was a good thing.... Dr. R took one look in my left ear and said "Oh my God... You deserve an award for the past couple days. This ear is terrible." And my right ear was pink as well.
He took x-rays of my sinuses, had me do a breathing treatment and told me I was sicker than I thought I was and he was thinking of sending me to get IV antibiotics. Whaaa? He recommended me staying home the rest of the week but... uhm, no... I don't get paid if I don't work.
So, I got two shots in my ass and a couple prescriptions and was sent on my way with a reminder to call Thursday if I wasn't feeling better and he'd have me do IV antibiotics. I feel better already, although my ears keep popping and gurgling. Eww.
He also told me I'm "not 18 anymore" and that is probably why I've been sick so many times this past school year. I normally never get sick, and attributed that to building up an immunity to all the crap that is passed around school. But this year... this is my 4th sinus/head cold.
I'm back to work tomorrow... hoping a decent nights sleep (hmm... maybe more Nyquil?) will get me ready for another day.
wowza! sounds like you are in rough shape. take care of yourself and get better soon.
ReplyDeleteEyikes!! I had an ear infection last spring (my 1st since I was a little kid) & it hurt like Hell! Hope the meds the Dr gave you work magic :)
ReplyDeleteDo you still have your tonsils? If so, did he say anything about those maybe causing you to get sick a lot this season? My sister just had her tonsils removed because she was getting a lot of colds and sore throats this winter too.
