Family

Today the boys were very challenging. Lori and I took all 5 kids to the Sandcastles Children's Museum in Ludington. If you are ever in the area I highly recommend it. We didn't get there until around noon so of course by the time we left the kids were hungry and Hudson was extremely tired. He ended up napping from 3-6:30 but woke up cranky still. Porter was being mouthy, even to adults, and my patience was wearing thin. After dinner I laid the boys down in the tent to watch Nemo since it was raining yet again. I laid down to read, Porter was asleep within minutes. Not long after, I heard the familiar sound of a guitar by the fire. It beckoned me to come sit by the fire and listen.

Hudson was still wide awake so we joined the rest of the family by the campfire. I sat quietly and gazed around... Mike playing the guitar and singing... his daughter Jordan singing along, Mary holding Hudson dancing in the light from the string lights on the camper, marshmallows roasting, Dave and Uncle Tom joking... Lia and Shae watching a movie in Mary's camper.

I thought to myself... This is what its all about. Family. All together, laughing, loving, enjoying life. Camping is such a bonding experience for us... it seems to bring everyone together, slow life down even if only momentarily. I love this life.
