If you are dropping off, do just that. Don't park in the drop off lane, get out, get your child out etc. If your kids can't get get out on their own you need to park and walk them up to the sidewalk.
You don't have to be the first car in line to drop off. If you're second, or even third (its a small parking lot/drive), and you're close enough for your kid to safely get out, by all means let them out!! Don't wait and wait (especially for people doing non-drop off drop offs in the drop off lane) until you're first in line. That makes for a very sloooow drop off line.
Ugh.
