Be grateful for the journey

I found this quote just sitting in my drafts.  I saved it almost a year ago to the day.

"We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are.

As you create a home, don’t get distracted with a lot of things that have no meaning for you or your family. Don’t dwell on your failures, but think about your successes. Have joy in your home. Have joy in your children. Have joy in your husband. Be grateful for the journey." ~Marjorie P. Hinckley

I thought it was quite poignant that my thoughts were here, at this point, a year ago and thus seeing how my journey in the past year has taken me to this place.  I've come a long way in the past year.  I've grown a lot.  I've learned a lot.  I've let go of a lot.  I've learned to be more content.  To accept things I cannot change.  To worry less about those unchangeable things.  I've learned to embrace the life I have right now, to be content and have joy in where my journey has taken me.  I've learned to be more present in my children's lives- not just "being there" but actually BEING there and BEING involved.  Being present.

I've embraced my 2011 word of the year: Simplify.  And I love this quote.  And oddly, I had just pinned it yesterday on Pinterest (which, a year ago, was scarcely heard of!)
